Snorkel

There are plenty of snorkel boats that take you out to great shallow reefs such as Cheeca Rocks and Alligator Lighthouse. These trips usually cost around $36 and typically have a couple different times to choose from. We like the Happy Cat out of Robbies (Robbies.com) and Sundance Water-sports (sundancewatersports.org). In addition, if you are staying on a waterfront property, it is great to snorkel right where you're staying. I often find great fish and wildlife just steps from my hotel room. If the hotel doesn't have mask/snorkel for free to use, you can rent for the day for as little as $10 (aquaholicadventures.com)

Fishing

You don't have to hire a private fishing boat captain to enjoy the fishing in Islamorada. There are a couple great Party Boat options to choose from that start at only $45 for half day trips. We recommend Miss Islamorada out of Bud N' Mary's (budnmarys.com) and Capt Michael's out of Robbies (robbies.com)

Paddle-board or kayaking

If this is something your into, then you have picked a great place to enjoy it. In fact, there's a chance you can use paddle-boards and kayaks for free depending on where you stay. But if not, there are some great places that can take a guided tour throughout the mangroves or maybe you just go exploring on your own for little cash. Here's our picks for these activities. PADDLE! (paddlethefloridakeys.com) and Otherside (othersideboardsports.com).

Go to Robbies and Feed the Tarpon

Believe it or not, this is the most popular thing to do for anyone who visits Islamorada. Huge fish that you can practically feed out of your hand. It's only $6.25 for entry and a bucket of fish. That's cheap!!! In addition, Robbies is probably the most visited establishment in Islamorada as it has been around for a long time and is home to cool shops and other activities to enjoy. As you noticed, we included them in our fishing and snorkel activities but they more to offer.. Visit their website and see everything they have to offer! (robbies.com)
